Cabiny Feel

When this sweet client came into the showroom to look at our kitchen products she had such a fun mindset. She knew what she didn’t want, which was contemporary style with white cabinetry because that is what is in her Fargo home, but she was open to exploring options to make her and her husband’s lake cabin “cabiny and warm”. I know cabiny isn’t a word in the English dictionary but here it was the perfect describing word for what she wanted her second home on Buffalo Lake to feel.

Even though she wanted her lake home to feel warm and cabiny and yet she was drawn to a modern shaker door style. Gorgeous combination.

The original fireplace was gas, however, the fireplace was to the floor with a small popout. To make it look less of an afterthought we completely surrounded the wall build-out and took it to the ceiling with Clearwater Natural Stone and added a hearth. This got the fireplace off of the ground and more visual to the rest of the space.

It started with the kitchen and the stairs. She fell in love with the tile first, which was a great place to start and set the tone for the rest of the kitchen. She also knew she wanted black vertical cable for the stairs, however, to stay reasonable we figured black iron balusters would be more cost-effective.  I for one think it turned out so great. Simple and not too industrial to take away from the warmth of the beautiful hickory.

Ceilings are taken for granted. It was originally painted the same color as the walls and it is a lie that a dark ceiling will make a negative impact on a room. This was the perfect space for a dark tongue and groove ceiling.

We all know that renovating is a show right now and we are all along for the ride. We are so thankful for these clients who saddled up with us and handled everything with such patience and kindness.

Thanks for keeping in touch on our projects! We sure love what we do.
